Recording of the Badger Crop Connect webinar on April 10, 2024
The April 10 Badger Crop Connect session features Dr. Steve Vavrus, Wisconsin State Climatologist. He shares that Wisconsin’s weather has been making headlines throughout the past year. We experienced a record-wet start to a year in 2023, followed abruptly by a summer of historic drought and wildfire smoke, and recently a record-warm winter. This weather variability poses challenges for farmers in particular as we approach the growing season. In this presentation, Wisconsin State Climatologist Steve Vavrus will summarize our weather during the past 12 months, report on current soil moisture and hydrologic conditions affecting growing, and share seasonal outlooks for the upcoming spring and summer.
