Recording of the Badger Crop Connect webinar on September 11, 2024
The September 11, 2024 Badger Crop Connect webinar featured Steve Vavrus, Wisconsin State Climatologist, who discussed the latest Wisconsin ag climate outlook. He highlighted the record lows set over the weekend, the dryness of the past week, and the cooler temperatures compared to the previous month. He also noted that the past month was typical, with a short-lived heat wave in late July. Steve mentioned that the state has been wetter than normal, with the summer being the 6th wettest on record. He also discussed the soil moisture, which is near normal in most regions but has some dry pockets, especially in the east. Steve concluded by mentioning the upcoming winter forecast, which is expected to be released in October, and encouraged the team to sign up for the Wisconsin ag climate outlook email for current information.
