The fourth Focus on Forage webinar in the 2023 series, Focus on Storage aims to provide WI farms and agricultural professionals with current research-based recommendations regarding hay bale and hay baleage storage and management.

Primary discussions are led by Bill Halfman, Beef Outreach Specialist with UW-Madison Division of Extension, and Yoana Newman, UW River Falls Professor and Extension Forage Specialist. Also featured is an introduction to Extension’s new Forage Agroecologist, Dr. Marta Moura Kohmann. Halfman discusses hay bale management strategies and associated economics for beef producers. Newman relays results of recent inoculant in baleage research and reviews baleage management and how it may fit into a WI farm’s forage plan. Kohmann introduces herself and her planned work, including asking for feedback from participants on past and expected forage management concerns.
