Regional Workshops on Fine Tuning Nitrogen Management through On-Farm Research: NOPP and more

These late-winter workshops explore strategies to advance nitrogen management for improved profitability and water quality through local research results and discussions with participating farmers, agronomists, and other regional partners.

Registration is free but required to ensure lunch. Workshops are hosted by UW–Madison, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and local partners.

Workshop Dates and Locations

Feb. 12 – Janesville (Rock Co.)
11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

March 2 – Larsen (Winnebago Co.)
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

March 12 – Juneau (Dodge Co.)
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

March 19 – Eau Claire (Eau Claire Co.)
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Agenda

Each location’s workshop will include:

  • Nitrogen management considerations for profitability and water quality goals
  • Nitrogen Optimization Pilot Program (NOPP): What have we learned so far?
  • Farmer Fields to Statewide Recs: A2809 nitrogen update
  • Farmer and Agronomist Panel: Lessons learned on nitrogen management
  • Local on-farm nitrogen research spotlight (topic varies by workshop location)
  • Share out of other local farmer-led efforts to fine-tune nitrogen management and investigate practices through on-farm research
