Kevin Mueller of Fond du Lac, Wis., an agronomist with over 24 years of dedicated service at Country Visions Cooperative-Malone, has been named the 2024 Wisconsin Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) of the Year. This esteemed award recognizes Kevin’s outstanding commitment to advancing agronomy through his expertise, mentoring, and dedication to his clients and colleagues.
With an extensive client base spanning over 10,000 acres and working with 80 different farms, Mueller manages diverse crops, including corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa. Throughout the growing season, Kevin is constantly in the field, scouting for weeds, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, and providing critical insights on crop health. His close relationships with his clients go beyond the growing season, as he works with each farm during the winter months to strategize crop rotation, soil fertility, and disease management plans tailored to each operation.
One of Kevin’s agronomy passions is exploring innovative agricultural practices, especially new product trials. Over the past decade, he has rigorously tested biologicals, nutrients, and fungicides to provide clients with data-backed recommendations that have improved yields across various soil types and growing conditions. A hallmark of Kevin’s career at Country Vision Cooperative as a CCA has been his relentless dedication to mentoring the next generation of agronomists. In 2020, Kevin took his mentorship to new heights by helping to develop and champion two training programs at Country Visions: Agronomy Academy and Applicator Academy. These internal training programs provide invaluable hands-on experience to young agronomists, applicators, and interns, while also helping them prepare for certifications such as the CCA exam. Kevin has personally impacted over 28 young agronomists, 50 applicators, and 20 interns in the past four years, demonstrating his deep commitment to fostering future leaders in the field.
Beyond his professional work, Kevin is an active community member, having served 9-years on the Fond du Lac County Forage Council and 3 -years on the Fond du Lac Area Agribusiness Council. He remains involved with his local community and church, consistently dedicating his time to volunteering.
Kevin’s passion for agronomy, his selfless approach to working with farmers of all sizes, and his unwavering commitment to education and ethical agricultural practices make him a truly deserving recipient of the Wisconsin CCA of the Year award.
