The Grassland 2.0 Academy Four Seasons registration is OPEN. The Academy leadership team is excited to bring this course to the grazing planners who are ready to take conservation on ag land to the next level.
Why Four Seasons?
Managed grazing is the gold standard for conservation on working lands. But there are seasons during which grazing can create environmental problems. Managing a herd through winter can be challenging, and once mastered, advantageous. Understanding the full cycle of a pasture system can be utilized to improve pastures and grow higher quality forage, as well as ensure stewardship of our land.
What is Four Seasons exactly?
An immersive, intermediate-level grazing planning training led by experts from across the state. Four Seasons consists of virtual modules and field days that build upon one another, creating a solid footing for development of year-round grazing plans that protect natural resources, set farmers up for success, and also adhere to NRCS standards.
Topics include out-wintering, bale grazing, heavy use areas, transitional seasons, as well as grassland ecology. Completing this curriculum prepares planners for Job Class IV in the NRCS framework.
Four Seasons includes the opportunity to work with a real producer through the winter and complete a year-round grazing plan suitable for their operation.
